The time has arrived where Microsoft has stopped production of Windows XP on all new computers. The biggest client complaints beyond changes to the user interface has been compatibility to unique programs like patient databases and older licensed versions of software that will not work in Windows 7 properly.
For those clients that are still interested in Windows XP functionality, you will be able to purchase Windows 7 with “Virtual Windows XP” emulation. This is simply a Windows XP environment that launches like any other program (think Word or Excel) from within Windows 7.
The single largest concern for making changes to a client IT environment is carefully pre-planning these upgrades, costs and downtime while the old system is still in place.
