Something not often discussed in the work environment is cleanliness. While dust and dirt are arguably the largest causes of server and computer failures – accumulation leads to over heating which in turn leads to failed equipment – our personal health may also be worth considering. This primer from the Blue Cross Blue Shield Winter 2011 magazine, Living Healthy gives these tips about hand washing:
1) Wet your hand, lather up
2) Rub your hands together for 20 seconds
3) Be thorough; under nails
4) Rinse and dry well
In tests, antibacterial products have no health value to families [over conventional soap].
This is probably good advice for everyone who uses other people’s keyboards and laptops.
